Dr. Nabiha Faisal is an Assistant Professor and Academic Transplant Hepatologist in the Section of Hepatology at the University of Manitoba. She completed her Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training in Pakistan and pursued a prestigious Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the University Health Network/University of Toronto and Master’s in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba.
In her clinical practice, Dr Faisal manages a diverse range of patients with chronic liver disease, from early stages to decompensated cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver transplant. As a clinician investigator, her research program leverages population-based administrative health data housed at MCHP to explore the epidemiology and outcomes of patients with cirrhosis, with a particular focus on Alcohol Associated Liver Disease (ALD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated liver diseases.
Dr. Faisal has established the first interdisciplinary ALD Clinic in Manitoba, aiming to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery. Her work also focuses on advancing precision medicine in liver diseases through artificial intelligence. Additionally, Dr. Faisal actively collaborates with various research networks including global consortium addressing disparities in mortality and liver transplantation in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. Dr. Faisal is also a dedicated member of the CASL Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee.
