Dr. Mubeen Rafay is an Associate Professor, Pediatric Neurologist/Stroke Specialist and Clinician Scientist in the Section of Neurology, Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Manitoba and Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. She is a medical graduate from Pakistan with residency in Pediatrics from the Aga Khan University Hospital and sub-specialty fellowship in Pediatric Neurology and Stroke and Master’s in Epidemiology from the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto.
Her academics focus includes childhood stroke, and various neurodevelopmental, neuroinflammatory and genetic disorders. She has published widely in her areas of clinical interest. She actively participates in the strategic planning, research publications, and guidelines development for childhood stroke through her various committee positions and stroke affiliations with the Internal Pediatric Stroke Study (IPSS), International Pediatric Stroke Organization (IPSO), Canadian Stroke Consortium and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NNDS).
She is also passionate about advancing pediatric neurology education and research, especially in developing limited resource countries and has mentored many trainees both locally and internationally. This is best reflected by her additional positions as Pediatric Neurology Section Teaching Coordinator, Chair-Child Neurology Society International Affairs Committee, and Honorary Academic Professor at the Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, Pakistan.
